THE SERVICE CENTRE

Our Story

early

2000

“Thornton Mechanical Repairs” was purchased into the family in the early 2000’s as a career change for the current owners mum and a opportunity for his eldest brother that had just finished high school With generations of family raised in the suburb where we were located the business operated steadily from the support of the local community, friends and family members.
Late

2013

Fast forward 10 years and an opportunity presented itself that would see one brother leave to move north and the youngest brother of the family start his apprenticeship.

In 2013 “Thornton mechanical repairs” moved east down Glenwood Drive to double its premises foot print to deal with the growth in the area which was short lived as by 2015 we had outgrown the new building and moved across the road doubling the building size again.

Late

2016

Late 2016 saw Beau the youngest brother finish his apprenticeship and move into a management role in the business. Early 2017 on the way back from picking up parts Beau had noticed a shed that was formerly a mechanic shop had closed and was now for rent. A conversation was had and at this point we realised that the small family workshop that we had become so comfortable with was not going to create the opportunities and impact we desired and with a phone call and a meeting the deal was done and “The Service Centre’s” were born.

2021

A desire to constantly improve by everyone has seen the team and business double year on year since then. 2021 has seen us extend our premises at East Maitland to now have a head office and central place to take all things that are not working on cars off the workshops hands allowing them to better provide for our customers and focus on the things mechanics are good at.

What was born as a family business still exist in our DNA but we now have the infrastructure and systems in place that will allow us to grow to a point that will serve more than the Thornton area, leave a greater impact on the world and create opportunities for more than our own family.
